Virya: Energy and Effort in Dharma life: Four Sanghas Weekend 2024
This retreat is ONLY for people who regularly attend Chester, West Wales,
Llangollen and Shrewsbury Triratna Sanghas. All genders welcome.
How do we keep our energy flowing for our practice? How do we keep in touch with
what inspires us? Our energy may become blocked, or dissipated by being pulled in
different directions. How can we become more integrated so that more of our energy
is available for our practice?
In the teaching of the Four Right Efforts, the Buddha made it clear that the most
important area for effort is in working with our mind states. But we need to find a
balance between making an effort, persisting with our practice, and letting go, being
receptive - not falling into the trap of practice as a self-improvement exercise.
During the weekend we will explore aspects of virya together, turning our minds to
Buddhist teachings in a beautiful environment, and building friendships with others
who share our values. It will include teaching, meditation, small group discussions,
ritual, body work and a little silence.
Come and share in the flow of energy we can create through sangha.
